Dr. Daksha Sharma is presently working as Assistant Professor (Law) at the Faculty of Legal Studies (FLS), South Asian University (SAU), New Delhi. She is also appointed as Arbitrator at Prasar Bharati, New Delhi and is regularly invited to deliver lectures on Constitutional Laws, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), International Law, Human Rights Law, Law relating to Woman and Child Rights, Private International Law, New Criminal Laws and Environmental Laws at the Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies (ICPS)- An Institute under Lok Sabha Secretariat, New Delhi, The Indian Law Institute (ILI), New Delhi, Delhi Police Academy, New Delhi and Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (BIPARD), Gaya, Bihar. She possesses ten years of rich and diversified experience in legal industry and academia.
Dr. Daksha Sharma has been awarded with the prestigious ‘Fifth Dr. Sarojini Naidu- The Nightingale of India International Award For Working Women 2021’ by International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry (ICMEI) in association with International Women’s Film Forum on 24 September 2021. Also, she has been awarded with Global Peace Award, 2022 by ‘Edvishan- World’s Educators Platform’ for making significant positive contributions in the society on 5 September 2022. She has been bestowed upon ‘National Corona Warrior 2020 Award’ by Sampark Kranti, a daily newspaper, for providing probono legal aid during the Covid period.
Dr. Sharma has earned Bachelor of Socio-Legal Sciences degree and LL.B. degree (B.S.L.-LL.B.) from the Indian Law Society’s Law College (I.L.S.), Pune, University of Pune and holds Masters in International Law (LL.M.) degree from the Department of Law, University of Pune. She has completed Ph.D. in International Law from the Indian Law Institute (I.L.I.), New Delhi on ‘Streamlining the Process of Intercountry Adoption in India: A Critical Study’. She has also successfully completed a Certificate Program on ‘Understanding Mergers and Acquisitions Law’, organised by Utrecht Summer School at Utrecht University, The Netherlands in 2023. She has successfully completed P.G. Diploma in International Environmental Law from the Indian Society of International Law (ISIL), New Delhi and also holds Diploma in Cyber Laws from Asian School of Cyber Laws (ASCL), Pune. She has successfully completed Certificate Course in Intellectual Property Rights (I.P.R.) from WIPO Worldwide Academy, Geneva.
While pursuing ‘Five Years Integrated Law Course’ (B.S.L.-LL.B.) from I.L.S. Law College, Pune, she secured First position in University of Pune for two consecutive years (2009 and 2010) and secured Fourth and Seventh rank in the year 2007 and 2011 respectively. Considering her meritorious performance, I.L.S. Law College, Pune has awarded her with its most prestigious ‘S.Y. Abhyankar Scholarship’ in 2011. Also, while pursuing Masters in International Law from University of Pune (2012-14), she has secured Second position in the university and qualified UGC-NET in her maiden attempt in 2013. By dint of her legal acumen and research skills, she has won various International, National and Regional level moot court competitions and research paper writing competitions in the field of International Law, Human Rights, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Constitutional Law, Environmental Law and Family Law. She was the active member of Legal Aid Cell of I.L.S. Law College, Pune from 2009 to 2012 and participated and directed various street plays for spreading legal awareness in the society.
Dr. Sharma is the Life Time Member of All India Law Teachers’ Congress (AILTC), New Delhi, Council Member at Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (WICCI), New Delhi and ‘Faculty Advisor’ at Sambhav Initiative, Gujarat, Jus Corpus Law Journal’s Advisory Board and ADR HOC, New Delhi. She has practised law from 2017 to 2020 wherein she dealt with numerous cases before the Supreme Court of India, Delhi High Court, lower courts, tribunals and commissions situated in Delhi NCR. Prior to her joining at the Faculty of Legal Studies (FLS), South Asian University (SAU), New Delhi, she worked as Assistant Professor (Law) and Assistant Dean (Placements and Alumni Relations) at the School of Law, Bennett University, The Times Group, Greater Noida, Delhi NCR. Also, she has worked as Assistant Professor (Law) at Amity Law School, Amity University, Noida wherein possessing commendable leadership skills, she innovated and pioneered the organisation of National Med-Arb Competition which was conducted successfully for the first time in India in 2015. She also worked as the ‘Research Associate’ at the ‘Chambers of Salman Khurshid’, New Delhi and was invited by Disha Law College, Raipur, Chhattisgarh (affiliated to Pt. Ravi Shankar Shukla University, Raipur) to work as a Visiting Faculty of International Law.
Being an enthusiastic academician, author as well as a lawyer, she has organized and participated in numerous seminars, conferences, training programs, round-table conferences, winter schools, summer schools and workshops as speaker, delegate and resource person and has several research paper publications to her credit. She has co-authored a book on ‘Spectrum Politics: Unveiling the Defence’ with Senior Advocate Salman Khurshid, Former Minister of External Affairs and Former Minister of Law and Justice. Also, she has edited a book tilted as ‘Emerging Constitutionalism: Trends and Transformations’ which discusses about the various international and national facets of Constitutional Law. She has assisted Hon’ble Mr. Justice R.F. Nariman, Former Judge at the Supreme Court of India in the Project on ‘Dissenting Judgments of the Indian Supreme Court from 1950 to 2016’ and the project report was published by the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi. She has published her patent titled as ‘Translation of Legal Documents’ in the ‘Official Journal of Patent Office’, New Delhi. Her research work has been published in the renowned International and National journals namely, Asian Journal of Legal Education, Journal of the Indian Law Institute, RGNUL Law Review, Journal of Global Research and Analysis, International Journal of Research and Analysis, Madras Law Journal, AIR Reporter, Utkal University Journal to name a few. She has also contributed her legal articles and opinions in popular media namely,
The Education Times, The Pioneer, Navodaya Times etc. and
made media appearances as ‘Legal Expert’ before News Nation, MSTV, Network, to
name a few.
As a part of social initiative, she has laid down the
foundation of 'Rising Stars’, a Community Service Program and Self- Help Group
at Kailash Hills, East of Kailash, New Delhi and is successfully running
it with the support of Kailash Hills' residents from September 2022 onwards,
with special focus on ‘Right to Education of children in the age group of six to
fourteen years’.
